GOD IN OUR HEARTS AND COMMUNITIES

A WIDELY PUBLICIZED SURVEY on religion in America, conducted by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life, has caused concern in the religious community and in some cases sparked criticism. A correction was made in the December 20, 2010 Sentinel: "In discussing research conducted by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life, the editorial "God in our hearts and communities" ("From the Editors," November 1) failed to distinguish between two separate surveys-the recent "U.S. Religious Knowledge Survey" and an earlier 2008 Pew Forum study, the "U.S. Religious Landscape Survey."You can find the updated version online at spirituality.com/read/communities."

Responses to surveys don't necessarily show what we hold in our hearts.
