SPIDERS and God's love

WHEN I WAS IN SECOND grade, I lived next door to my grandma and grandpa. One night a spider bit me on the chest. I had swimming lessons the next day, and I saw that the spider bite was swollen. It was as big as a golf ball. It made me afraid, so I called my grandma and asked her to pray with me.

She told me about a verse in the Bible that says, "The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me" (Ps. 138:8). To me this meant that because God is perfect and made me perfect, I couldn't have anything that wasn't good. Grandma said we could trust that Bible promise.

We prayed that God loved me and that I was God's perfect idea and so was the spider! God had not made the spider to hurt me. I knew that God was the only power. He would keep me safe. Grandma told me that God had healed my grandpa when he had a big lump on his elbow.
