'NOTHING COULD HARM ME'
I have learnt over many years that prayer is a most effective response in any situation. It can be used anywhere, by anyone, and its results are sure. I had occasion to prove this five years ago.
At the time I was volunteering in an orphanage in South Africa, living in very basic conditions and sharing accommodations with several other volunteers. Since many of them were medical professionals, there was a lot of talk of contagion and the dangers of our unhygienic environment. One morning I awoke to find that the inside of my elbow was inflamed and very tender. Within an hour the swelling had increased alarmingly and the centre of the area had become black.
I immediately prayed to abate my fear. I knew how important that was. I then refused to indulge in thoughts as to what might have caused the condition, or how it could affect my work, although the pain was intense and I had limited use of the arm.
