PRAYER BY THE SEA

Tired of rehearsing yesterday'sthin expectations I walkto the sea, selecta rock for resting onin silence and alone.I watch green watersripple over the pebbled beachwhile fuchsia clouds transpose the grayinto a purple set for gulls to glide acrossannouncing who they are, demandingan apology for trespassing. Applausesweeps through the willows whilea steady tide allows the sunto slip beyond our earth.

Here in such stillness, Lord,my prayer abides: I doknow who you are.
