HEALED AFTER A FALL
One morning late in 2006, a friend and I were out riding our mountain bikes. On the way down a steep hill, I lost control of my bike, and took a hard fall, landing on my shoulder and hitting my head on the pavement. The pain was intense, and I thought I might lose consciousness.
Immediately I affirmed that as God's idea—His image—I couldn't actually suffer. But I knew from past experience that I wanted to have the prayerful assistance of a Christian Science practitioner. I found my cellphone, and called a practitioner, who agreed to begin praying right away. Then I called my wife to come pick me up.
My friend, who was a short distance ahead of me, came back looking for me. Although he isn't a Christian Scientist, he respected my approach to healing. When my wife arrived, he helped me into the car, and also loaded my bike into the trunk.
