I was so grateful to read the article "Lunch on a tiny tugboat" by Stephanie Johnson in the July 20–27 issue on beauty. My mum passed it on to me when she heard that I'd had a challenging week looking after my two sons (three-and-a-half and one-and-a-half-years old).
We've recently moved to a new city, and since I left my part-time job behind, I had decided, and felt led, to try to look after my two boys full time myself. I had looked after them without working until they were each around eight months old, but since then I'd worked part time, and I enjoyed my job. I wondered if I could be more than a part-time mum; did I have enough patience, enough creativity?
Well, after a challenging but exciting start, the novelty was wearing off, and I was feeling drained. I was troubled, lonely, bored, and the boys were responding by being unsettled. I prayed; for a solution.
