SUMMER ALLERGIES—GONE!

Summer in the Northwest is spectacular. I love walks or gardening during the long evenings. But last year, without warning, my eyes became irritated and watery, and my nose dripped constantly.

Prayer had brought me healing many times in the past. So, as Christian Science had taught me, I reasoned that nothing except God's goodness could touch me. This reaction was not His design but rather a false claim that I lived in matter, not in Spirit.

So whenever my eyes watered or my nose dripped, I'd dry them with a tissue and think, "Now that's a lie about what God created." This helped me keep my focus on the good and beautiful scene around me—the lush green foliage, the blue skies, the gentle breeze. And I thought about the idea of agreeing "with thine adversary quickly" in Matthew (5:25 ). That meant to me that I should agree that though the symptoms were apparent, they were not real and couldn't last. I never became upset; rather, I was convinced that nothing could steal my delight.
