FACIAL CONDITION HEALED, STRESS OVERCOME

I'm very grateful to have been raised in a home where devout Christian parents always turned to the healing power of God as revealed in Christian Science. I remember healings in our family of health-related, financial, and other challenges, as well as physical healings of my own. This approach to situations seemed very natural to me as a boy. I felt wonderfully loved and secure growing up in this happy home.

As an adult, I married, joined the US Army, and for 20 years served as a Christian Science chaplain. There were many opportunities to help others through applying the truths of Christian Science, as well as share its ideas with members of other denominations. It was always a lesson in humility to know just what to say and how to say it when talking with people from all kinds of religious, racial, and social backgrounds.

One day I noticed several small lumps developing beneath the skin of my chin. This had never occurred before, and I prayed at first to calm my concern. For several days, I affirmed what I know to be true—the wholeness of my identity as God's image, and the impossibility that the body, as non-intelligent matter, had any capacity to create inharmonious conditions. When the situation didn't improve, I contacted a Christian Science practitioner for assistance.
