what really heals?

A conversation among healers.

Ingrid Peschke, managing editor of the Sentinel and a Christian Science practitioner, recently moderated a roundtable discussion with three other Christian Science practitioners: Melanie Wahlberg and John Kohler, both from the Boston area, and Jeanne Kirkpatrick, from Washington, DC. Here are excerpts from their discussion.

As experienced healers, how would you define what really heals?

Jeanne Kirkpatrick: To me, the very first thing needed in healing is to push the "pause button." And in that moment of pausing, we're listening for guidance, for healing, for what the next step is, how to do it—all of those things. Jesus showed us that whenever we get the full vision of the Christ, healing results. The Christ is the full assurance of God's presence, His power, His love, and feeling that, knowing that, results in healing. The Christ communicates to us what exactly God's care means, and it touches us very practically in whatever situation we're in.
