LET GOOD THOUGHTS IN!

My name is Natasha. I'm ten years old. Last year, in May, the musical The King and I opened, in which I was playing a royal child. Before the last scene, I suddenly felt ill and threw up. I couldn't go on stage.

When my parents found out, they started praying right away. And they called a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me. When I got home that night, I was really tired and I went right to bed feeling better. I woke up the next morning with a headache. I called the practitioner, and I asked her to help me pray. She told me that I could be like a guard and not let any bad thoughts in. Instead, I could let in only good thoughts about me, the way God had created me. I told myself that God was with me and I would be OK. I soon felt better and went to school, even though I went late.

That night I had another show. I felt great, and I didn't throw up or anything. The First Commandment says that you shall "have no other gods before me" (Ex. 20:3). To me that meant that I should not dwell on not feeling well the night before because then I would be worshiping other gods. There was never a Bible verse that said, "You shall worship sickness." So I decided that I would forget about it and carry on with my life.
