A MAKEOVER WITH SOUL

ARE YOU READY for a makeover? This week's Christian Science Bible Lesson, titled "Soul and Body," shows how to accomplish a makeover that not only improves the body, but also reaches the depths of one's inner being and very identity. You might call it a makeover with Soul.

This type of makeover is far removed from the many reality TV shows that depict people who are unhappy with their body image, and seek help from experts in the fields of beauty, fashion, diet, fitness, and cosmetic surgery. The Apostle Paul pointed his followers in a different direction when he wrote, "Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Rom. 12:2, citation 22).

To be effective, a makeover must have an objective, and there's a good one in this Lesson's Golden Text, which sets the tone for the sections that follow: "Glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's" (I Cor. 6:20). Starting here is already taking an important step. It turns the focus away from the human physique, toward glorifying God.
