LETTERS

The September 22 issue, "A new school year—with God," has prompted this letter. I usually start reading the Sentinel on the cover date, a couple of articles or so a day, finishing by the end of the week. But this time I was halfway through this issue on the first reading, so engaging were the articles.

I would like to make special mention of David Stevens's article, "Forward to school," in which he tells about his own school experiences. Of note was the gentle prompting of his parents when he hesitated to take the next progressive step. Also, his yielding, seeking God's guidance, and finding progress, perhaps beyond his initial expectations.

Progress is all about enlightened thought. Schools are a key institution in society, which promote and foster this enlightenment that moves us ahead. David brought about his forward movement by unselfed love, relying on God and taking the necessary human footsteps.
