GOD HOLDS ME IN HIS HANDS

This summer, I went to a camp for Christian Scientists. On the way there, my mom and I stopped at a store. While we were shopping, I had a stomachache. I sat down and prayed, and kept saying to myself, "I am God's reflection, and if God can't have a stomachache, then neither can I." After I prayed for a few minutes, my stomach stopped hurting, and I was able to finish shopping and go on to camp.

Then at camp, I injured my big toe on some concrete stairs. It looked bad and hurt a lot. I went to the Christian Science nurse, and she cleaned it up and covered it with a bandage. My mom was one of the camp teachers, so she came and we both prayed. I also went to see the Christian Science practitioner at camp. The practitioner talked with me about how God was taking care of me. Then I felt better. I was able to swim during a special activity that night.

But the next day when I tried to swim, my toe was very painful again. I went back to the practitioner. We talked about the 91st Psalm. It says that God sends His angels "to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone" (Ps. 91:11, 12, New Revised Standard Version). To me that meant that God held me in His hands and took care of me, even if I hit my foot on something hard. Whenever my toe started to hurt, I thought about that psalm and about God's love for me. And every time, I felt better. I didn't miss any of the camp activities. Soon my toe was completely healed. By the end of the week there was no mark on my toe or any evidence that the accident had ever happened.
