At Churches across Montgomery, [August 12] marked an afternoon of prayer for students, administrators, teachers, and parents on the eve of the new school year.
The dozen host churches of the Pray for Schools Rally each focused their prayers on one of Montgomery's seven public school districts, as well as private schools in the community. . . .
"There are too many young people left to themselves," [the Rev. Willie D. McClung said.]. . . "[W]ithout prayer, we are lost. When we invoke God into the process, it gives us something so much bigger to work with."
