'A VERY PRESENT HELP'

After a relaxing week of vacation, my husband and I boarded a red-eye flight from Hawaii to our home in California. Since it was very late at night, the flight attendants turned out the lights so the passengers could spend the next several hours resting. My husband and I snuggled closely together, quietly talking. I was in the window seat and a young lady was seated on the aisle next to my husband.

Suddenly, my husband announced that something was wrong, and as I looked at him, he passed out. This alarmed me, since in our 25 years of marriage he had always been in excellent health. In this moment many thoughts flooded my mind. I felt something was seriously wrong, and it appeared that my husband had passed on. I instantly turned to God for help.

First I declared, with great conviction, that God was his Life, and that he lived and moved and had his being in Him (see Acts 17:28). Then I vehemently refuted any thoughts of death and began to speak aloud in my husband's ear the truths that were coming to me. I also declared aloud the scientific statement of being from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, which begins: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all" (p. 468). These powerful truths completely flooded my consciousness with light, where there was no room for thoughts of darkness or death.
