'WAIT ON THE LORD'
I had been suffering with a heavy cold for several days. Although I'd been praying about it, I decided to call a Christian Science practitioner to support me, since I was concerned I wouldn't be able to carry out my duties as First Reader of my branch Church of Christ, Scientist, the following day.
The practitioner assured me of the fact that I could never be separated from God's great love for me—and that sickness was merely a suggestion that such a separation was possible. I held to this thought, but didn't sleep well.
Sunday morning I woke up, still coughing and feeling no better. Discouraged, I said aloud, "God, what should I do?" I truly wanted to do the right thing for my church.
