ANYONE CAN BE A HEALER

THE IDEA WAS PERSISTENT!

I FIRST THOUGHT about going into the public practice of spiritual healing after taking Christian Science Primary class instruction. During this course, I had a feeling of spiritual buoyancy like never before and was in awe of God's power.

I was pregnant with my second child at the time, and had been enjoying having quiet moments to prayerfully support the pregnancy. At the conclusion of the course, I vividly recall attending a symphony performance and, as I listened to the beautiful music, really feeling a kind of spiritual clarity relating to God as divine Soul. A passage from Science and Health describes what was taking place in my thought: "Eternal Truth is changing the universe. As mortals drop off their mental swaddling-clothes, thought expands into expression. 'Let there be light,' is the perpetual demand of Truth and Love, changing chaos into order and discord into the music of the spheres" (p. 255).

That experience of spiritual wonder was a beacon of light to me, gently pointing the way toward helping others through prayer. Three months later, my second child was born—easily and within an hour. I attribute this harmonious birth to the truths of Christian Science I'd been learning.
