I'm new to Christian Science, and I'm still trying to understand the whole idea of being able to heal things like cancer.

It's so helpful to realize that God is Life, that God is infinite Love, that He does not create disease and suffering. The Christ, or Truth, is always here to remove these impositions from the human mind and to bring healing to the body. It may seem incredible that one could be healed simply through prayer. But prayer based on spiritual understanding brings the power of God into the equation, and "with God all things are possible." Then we can feel the Comforter. We can feel the presence of Christ, Truth, just as people did when Jesus was right there with them. And it does bring healing.
