LETTERS

Thank you for the October 22 issue on "True womanhood." In her article, "Women in the Bible and today—a spiritual link," Elaine Follis wrote, "We discover that true womanhood—and manhood—is not about the human scene with its changing customs, standards, technologies, and opportunities; it's about these elements which do not change ..." Relying on God instead of mortal concepts enables us to understand our true identity regardless of our gender. Understanding God and our relationship to Him unfolds the masculine and feminine qualities in each one of us.

I was struggling with the concept of men and women in the "Women and Genders" class I'm taking this semester. The class's discussions focus on blaming men and society for the oppression of women and other minorities. After reading this issue of the Sentinel, I've made a point of bringing up new ideas to the class and shedding light on who men and women are spiritually: a broad representation of loving and redeeming qualities.
