MORE AND MORE CHURCHES go online to spread the gospel, and believers say it's the perfect modern medium for a timeless message. But some wonder if a virtual congregation will ever be able to take the place of a real-life community in faith. ...

[Troy] Gramling, like a growing number of pastors, took his church online this year to spread the gospel, especially among the young. And it's not just streaming televised services; he posts videos on YouTube, he has an interactive blog, and then there are the web-cams that follow him, his staff, and his family through everyday life all posted on a site meant to capture your attention. ...

He hopes that at some point, some of that Internet audience will make it to the brick-and-mortar church or at least meet in real life to pray and study the Bible. But if they don't, he hopes they will continue to check out his cyber-church because "their experience with God is the same."
