GRATEFUL FOR HEALING OF EYE INJURY
After first learning of Christian Science in 2002, I gradually started relying on prayer for healing. As a result, I was healed of physical difficulties such as a cold, a cough, a throat infection, frequent headaches, food indigestion, stomach problems, and fever. I've come to know a lot of wonderful truths through turning to God and praying with the ideas from Science and Health and the Holy Bible. Spiritual understanding has made me a changed person. The Weekly Christian Science Bible Lessons, the Sentinel, and articles and beautiful thoughts posted on the website spirituality.com, are now my constant inspiration for handling all kinds of problems.
One Sunday morning, after taking a bath, I slipped in the bathroom. It happened in a matter of seconds, but I was able to turn on my left side so that my head would not directly hit the floor. However, as I fell, I knocked down an empty bucket, and its handle struck the side of my left eye. For a few seconds, I lay quietly on the floor. I just thanked God for the fact that He was protecting me. While dressing for Sunday church services, I looked at my face in the mirror and saw that my left eye had swollen up. It was painful as well. Nevertheless, I felt I was under God's control. I decided to pray, and continued praying throughout the day.
By Monday morning, though, my eye had become worse. It was black and blue, as if somebody had hit me in the eye. Moreover, blood remained in the corner of that eye. When my friends and colleagues saw me, they all told me to consult a doctor. Instead, I asked a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me. She asked me to pray with some selections from Science and Health. One was: "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony" (p. 424). Another was: "Under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection" (p. 424).
