EFFECTIVE PRAYER FOR A PET

About three years ago, our beautiful vagabond cat, Buster, showed signs of an illness. I babied him for a couple of days, praying the best that I could, and hoping he would get better. But after the fourth day, he couldn't walk, and was crying a lot. Fears about losing my loved companion came rushing in. I decided that I should take him to a veterinarian clinic. The vet immediately said that if Buster had any chance to live, he would need to have treatment for at least a week.

When I left him behind at the clinic, I was afraid for Buster, and I felt that my ability to pray and trust God's healing power had been very inadequate. I've had many healings over the years through prayer in Christian Science. Why had my prayers been ineffective this time?

Well, God began to answer my question right then. On the ride home, I had this thought: "This whole experience is not about me and an ill kitty cat. It's an opportunity to learn more about how much God loves me and all of His creatures." I felt I was being told that I just needed to stay with God, listen, follow, discover His supremacy, and He would lead me with grace and compassion and healing. I just needed to focus on what God was teaching me.
