PRAYER AND FINANCES— BUILDING ON SOLID GROUND

I HAVE OFTEN WRESTLED over the concept of abundance in my own experience. I've asked myself: Is it really all about material wealth? Is it defined by the house we live in, the car we drive, or the things we possess? These may be a part of our lives, but my questions have led me to look for spiritual answers. And when it comes to living a spiritually abundant life, I can't help but think of a couple I've known and observed for nearly two decades.

Vicki and Scott Paradis don't have on rose-colored glasses when they explain that their life is filled with goodness. They enjoy a beautiful home, a successful business, and a good marriage. But they admit they've seen a fair share of challenges along the way, including what seemed like insurmountable debt and the hardships of being small business owners. What makes the difference is in how they approach life—in their deep devotion to God and their trust in His abundant care in their lives.

Vicki and Scott were fourth-grade sweethearts, but they didn't get married until they met years later. Both had been previously married. Now they've been together for nearly 18 years, and both say there's no denying they were meant for each other.
