Thank you for taking a stand in the pages of the December 26, 2005, issue ["Renewal: a spiritual promise"] against the use of torture. It is such an important topic in the news at this time, and I am grateful for the way in which Dave Hohle's article, "A perfect standard," handled the matter.
In particular, I appreciated the use of Mary Baker Eddy's words from Miscellaneous Writings 1883—1896, "Unconstitutional and unjust coercive legislation and laws, infringing individual rights, must be of few days and full of trouble'" (p.80).
