ALONE AGAIN BUT NOT LONELY

A man finds the answer to the question, Is the key to happiness found in having a relationship with another person?

After a 22-year marriage and the stability it had brought to my life, I suddenly found myself "out there" again as a single person. I really didn't want to be alone, and I figured that the right woman was waiting for me, if only I could find her.

I moved from a small town to the city, and thought my search would not be difficult because I knew exactly what I was looking for—someone who had a good attitude and who expressed all the good qualities that everyone wants in a partner. I had the energy and desire to do whatever it took to succeed in my quest for happiness.

One evening I sat next to a man at the bar during a noisy and glittery getacquainted party for single people. It seemed like high school all over again, but this time without the awkwardness and inexperience of youth. Although I don't drink, I accepted this atmosphere as being a legitimate way to meet members of the opposite sex.
