You can be about your 'Father's business,' too!
Like Jesus, you, too, can be about your "Father's business" and talk with God the way he did. Jesus was special, but we are all God's children. And that means each of us can hear our Father-Mother God's messages and do what God is asking us to do.
Every time you help a friend or stranger, replace an angry word with a kind one, or comfort someone in need, you are being "about your Father's business." When Jesus was a grown man, he once told a story about a king who called to some of his people to come and inherit the kingdom of God because of all the kind and thoughtful acts they had done for him. These people asked him, "How could we have done these things when we've never met you face to face?" The king replied simply, "Whenever you performed any kind act to anyone, you've done it to me also" (see Matt. 25:34–40).
With this parable, Jesus was stressing the importance of being kind and loving to everyone—the homeless person on the street, even that kid in school that others may label as "different"—because we are all God's special children. When you are kind and helpful to other people, you are doing what God wants you to do each and every day. In that way you are naturally about your Father's business.
