FREEDOM FROM BACK PAIN

I was raised on a farm in Wyoming and learned to ride a horse at an early age. By my high-school years, I had my own horse, and it was my job to bring the cows in from the pasture after coming home from school.

My dad was superintendent of an oil company camp located near our homestead. I loved to ride my horse to visit a friend in another nearby oil camp. I was riding to my friend's camp one day when my horse fell and rolled halfway over, with me under her. My back was badly injured, and it took several months of chiropractic treatment and medical therapy before I was back to normal.

One day my mother gave me a copy of Science and Health and asked me to read it. I had been to various churches by that time, searching for teachings that I could accept. I felt deeply that Jesus' command "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead" (Matt. 10:8) was meant to be obeyed. As I read Science and Health, I saw that Mary Baker Eddy had shown how practical and provable that command is today. Soon I joined The Mother Church [The First Church of Christ, Scientist] and one of its branch churches.
