Study shows gratitude leads to happiness

"Many religious and philosophies have long advocated the benefits of counting one's blessings. Recently, a small number of psychologists, including [University of California at Davis] psychology Professor Robert Emmons, have begun testing the theory that we're happier and healthier when we're grateful.

"Over the past five years, Emmons and his colleague, Professor Mike McCullough from the University of Miami's psychology department, have been conducting ongoing experiments to determine the benefits of gratitude.
