Painful tooth condition healed

I was looking forward to having my two grandchildren spend the weekend with my husband and me. The last thing I wanted was to be troubled by a painful toothache. But that first night, when we all went to bed, I found myself waking up often, with a very intense, throbbing pain. It was coming from a tooth I'd had filled recently.

Two months earlier, the dentist had commented on how huge the filling was, and as I lay there in bed, I had fearful visions of this big filling not having enough tooth to support it. On top of that anxiety, I recalled that several family members and a family friend had complained of this dentist's work. They all felt they had received incompetent care from him.

As I lay there struggling with the severe pain, I realized that I had to calm my thoughts about the dentist and not spend my time worrying about the comments I had heard about him. I knew that he was a young man who was just getting started in his practice, and whatever mistakes he may have made on others certainly wouldn't have been intentional. Instead of blaming him or fearing his work, I began to think more lovingly of him, and my fears started to diminish.
