Finally free of chronic headaches
During my childhood, I began having recurring headaches. Because of the pain and accompanying nausea, I was forced to be in bed for a couple of days each time one occurred. One of my grandmothers had suffered from similar headaches her entire life, and it looked as though my condition was inherited.
Although I was otherwise entirely healthy, for several years I was unable to overcome this chronic condition. I led a busy personal and professional life that was interrupted every month or so with a period of illness. Over the years, I asked Christian Science practitioners to pray for me and relief always came, but the headaches continued to occur. I chose not to use pain relievers or to get a medical diagnosis—I wanted a permanent cure.
I had experienced such good health and quick healings in my life through prayer. So I was embarrassed that I'd been unable to overcome this problem. But this embarrassment was gently taken away when a longtime co-worker told me about her belief in the power of Christian Science—because she'd seen how quickly I'd been freed from each bout with a headache through prayer alone. I was grateful, but, still, I wanted to be completely free of the headaches.
