Through a spiritual lens—LIGHT REFLECTED AND LIGHT SHINING THROUGH
At the St. Louis Botanical Garden, I was taking some shots of the different buildings on the grounds.
Here, we are looking through a window at the front of a building, into the building, and straight out of another window in the back. This creates an interesting interplay of reflections, in which there is no one focal point because everything remains in a curious state of focus.
When I was taking this image, my concern was mostly about the architecture. But once I started looking deeper, I saw that the light was the most beautiful and the most dominant part of the scene. I also found that as soon as I became more concerned with photographing light than form, inspiration took hold, and I felt my photographic eye had become more sensitive to the subtle and the sublime.
