A special kind of grace

Everyone knows someone who exhibits grace. A young girl may notice an especially graceful woman and wish to be like her someday. Most of us have heard it said that someone "handled a situation with grace." Grace, by its very nature, carries healing with it, because it is an expression of love, which is a powerful healing element.

There was a woman who was very dear to me throughout my life. From my little-girl perspective, I felt her kindness and love for children. She was one of the Christian Science practitioners my family would call to pray with us when we needed help and healing. As I grew up, I came to appreciate her elegance and dignity. Even her voice had a special tone and quality that I loved.

Beyond what I may have noticed on the surface, there was something special that was deeply rooted in this woman—something that blessed those around her—a special kind of grace. It could only come from spiritual preparedness—shown in her always being ready to handle any circumstance that came her way. It was the kind of grace that comes from holding God close in your thought at all times. It was the grace that heals.
