Your fine issue of October 27 regarding rising above grief arrived the day a dear friend and former colleague passed on. I had visited her often, expressing the love I felt for her with flowers, visits, phone calls, and especially prayers. She knew this, and at times asked for my prayers before some exam.
I found myself not as spiritually prepared for her passing as I thought I was. When your issue arrived, I turned to and read the first article by Richard Bergenheim, and within a few days finished the whole issue. The other day I had occasion to offer it, along with a copy of the Thanksgiving Bible Lesson Sermon, to my friend's husband, explaining that it had helped me and I hoped it would him. When we parted, he thanked me for both.
