NOT YOUR AVERAGE SUMMER INTERNSHIP
When I decided to major in physics in college, many people considered me brave—or crazy—for attempting something so daunting. Physics was supposed to be really difficult! But long before I even knew what physics was, I learned that God was my Mind. So I always knew that I could learn anything I wanted to learn. The infinite Mind that created the universe certainly understands everything that exists—and that Mind is the source of my intelligence. And I have loved studying physics.
During my undergraduate career I spent two summers as an intern at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. My work involved the RHESSI (Reuven Ramaty High Energy Solar Spectroscopic Imager) mission, which produces images and spectra of solar flares in hard X-rays and gamma rays.
In my second summer at Goddard, I was responsible for developing computer programs to be used in data analysis. The programs that I wrote worked correctly, but required far too much computing time.
