The Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity

In her true light . . .

A look at the unpublished writings of Mary Baker Eddy

In September 2002, The Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity will open its doors. For the rest of this year, the Sentinel will bring readers selections from the Library's previously unpublished collection of materials.

This fragment, which is signed "Mary Baker Eddy 1910," was dictated by her to Laura E. Sargent, a longtime member of her household.

A Word to the Wise

"Admit that God hath chosen the foolishness of these things to confound the wise. This means that the foolishness of the unwise is confounded by the wisdom of God. Then it behooves Christians to wait patiently in tribulation. To rejoice in affliction is to understand the vitality of Christianity, the spiritual sense of the Scriptures. This meaning is all the reality and the salvation which the Bible contains for the reader and the seeker of Truth."
