Prostate problems are not inevitable

Over the years, many of my friends had thoroughly informed me about their travails with prostate cancer and other prostate-related problems that they lightly referred to as inevitable for all men. Everyone I knew who had these problems used medical treatment. Some friends had found temporary relief, but others had died.

I had noticed certain related symptoms but had ignored them, until one Sunday when they became acute. I was afraid. I wondered if it could be cancer.

That night I prayed with a verse from the Bible: "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment" (John 7:24). It was the keynote verse for the next weekly Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly. As I studied that lesson, I felt comfortable physically for the first time that day. But during the night, the pain I had been having returned.
