From depression and anger to incredible LOVE
I'VE HAD A TOTAL LIFE-CHANGING wake-up call. About six or seven years ago, I was deeply depressed. I was having problems with some very bad memories—I'd been raped when I was a teenager, and when I reached about 30, these memories began coming back.
I was visiting a psychiatrist, who had put me on antidepressant pills. In addition to taking the pills, I would go to bed drunk. I'd pass out every night and be surprised to be still alive when I woke up in the morning. On top of all that, I was anorexic and weighed very little. I'd also been through a divorce. I felt the combination of all these things was killing me.
One day, I met a woman and her husband. She was a Christian Science practitioner. They came over to my house, and I could feel that they were loving me—unconditionally. I admired their calmness and their love, as well as their confidence and the happiness that they had found with God. I knew something about Christian Science, but I hadn't gotten very involved with it.
