Healed overnight
I've seen proof many times that God is a constant help in my life. It doesn't matter where I am—I know that God is right there with me. An experience I had showed how knowing this can help, even severe situations.
A couple of years ago, the newspapers here in Venezuela were full of stories about an epidemic of dengue fever, for which there was no medical cure. Many of my co-workers talked fearfully about nothing else.
One afternoon I began to feel lousy, and I decided the best thing to do would be to go home, where I would have some quiet and could pray for myself without the distractions of the office. I'd learned that I could depend on God to heal me, so I felt confident that I would be OK.
