YOUR LETTERS

Thank you for your work during this year. God bless us all. This past year, I have been pulled through knotholes hitherto unknown in my life. The year's tragedies seem to be like lava flowing over every segment of society, searing our hearts and the world's. My experiences this year have been a challenge for me, but are relatively tame compared to those of some of my friends and the stories connected with New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania.

An axiom I have come to believe is that all things local (those which happen in my immediate sphere) are global, and all things global are often manifested in my local, personal experience. I have cringed at incidences of anthrax, divorces, deaths, and misdeeds—hurt people hurting other people. On the other hand, when I sing, the world sings, and when the world sings, I sing with the world.

As this past year progressed, concepts like faithfulness, fidelity, honor, loyalty, patriotism, and consistency seem to have taken on a grander glow, a needed home in my consciousness. It is heartening to know there are those you can trust and rely upon, even those you do not know.
