Coming to grips with it all
"I didn't grow up with any severe conflict in my own country," says college junior David Gross. Then came last September 11. Sentinel correspondent Suzanne Smedley spoke with him.
You were saying that after the attacks on the WTC and the Pentagon happened, the college sent out, as a means of helping people, something called "Reactions to Trauma."
This e-mail was a list of 10 or 15 "typical" reactions that we might have. A couple of days later, I realized that both my girlfriend and I and my friends were experiencing lots of the things—if not all of the things—on that list.
