God's help always available

Toward the end of a vacation trip to Scandinavia, I was staying at a hotel in Norway, high in the mountains. One night I became violently ill. I prayed and studied the Bible and Science and Health through the night until the telephone switchboard operator came on duty the next morning. At that time I called a Christian Science practitioner in Denmark to pray for me. I didn't speak Danish, but the practitioner understood enough English that she was able to understand what the problem was.

As I hung up the phone, I realized that I must turn away from the problem immediately and not look back—not let it occupy my attention. This statement in Science and Health came to mind: "Look away from the body into Truth and Love, the Principle of all happiness, harmony, and immortality" (p. 261). I thought about this, and felt well enough to pack my luggage for the tour that was scheduled to leave in an hour.

As the day progressed I felt much better, and by that evening I was completely well. This is a healing I am especially thankful for because it showed me that I could accept God's presence and power in an hour of need.
