Inspired ideas—always available
It was a beautiful autumn afternoon, and I was looking forward to visiting a friend. As I rounded the corner of my apartment building to go to my car in the parking area, a strong gust of wind picked me right up off my feet and lifted me up into the air. I landed on my left side with my arm under me.
As I lay there stunned and gathering my thoughts, a friend who lives in the complex came by. Noticing my situation, he placed my purse under my head and went inside to get two maintenance men. They gently lifted me up and helped me to my car as I asked them to. They urged me to return to my apartment, but I felt that I should carry out my plan.
One inspired idea about God can heal.
After I wiped off my face, which was bleeding slightly, I drove to the home of a young boy who needed a lift to get to a friend's home.
This boy went to Sunday School at my church. When he got into the car, I asked him to pray with me by saying the "scientific statement of being" with me several times and listening for healing ideas. This statement includes these words: "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation" (Science and Health, p. 468).
After I dropped him off, I proceeded to visit my friend. She also goes to my church, and she helped me stand up for what was true about my identity as God's child. When I returned home, another friend came over and helped me wash up the bruises and get comfortable.
I remembered these words: "In Science, no breakage nor dislocation can really occur" (Science and Health, p. 402). The word really was like a beacon light.
As time went on, it appeared that a bone in my wrist had been broken, because of the swelling and tenderness. Since I live alone, I depend on my arms and hands in taking care of my daily needs, but just that one sentence sustained me, especially the word really. Whenever the pain in my arm or wrist was particularly bad, I would repeat the phrase, "...no breakage nor dislocation can really occur."
Within a few days, the wrist was functioning normally. And I've noticed since then that my left wrist is especially strong, no matter what I have to use it for.
Isn't it wonderful that just one inspired idea about God can heal like that!
