God's power present in an emergency
When I was between one and two years old, my father, who was an artist, was doing some ink drawings at home. He left the room, and when he came back, he discovered that I'd drunk the ink, which contained iron oxide, a poisonous compound. He was afraid. I developed a high fever. Being a Christian Scientist, he promptly began praying for me. In a short time the fever left me.
When my mother returned home from doing some errands, he told her what had happened. The fever returned. My mother and father both started praying for me, and a short while later the fever left me, permanently. I never suffered any further effects from drinking that ink.
When I was a teenager, I began to have severe difficulty in breathing. I couldn't walk more than 50 feet without needing to sit down to rest. Even just singing hymns in church was impossible. I could only stand and mouth the words, but little sound would come out.
