How two dads prayed for the ski team
God's answers to our prayers were far better than anything we could have thought up.
Since they were three years old, our daughters, Anna and Molly, have been neighbors and playmates — two little girls exploring a safely defined world under the watchful eyes of their parents. Fourteen years later, as juniors in high school, both were chosen as captains of their ski team. And we were left wondering how to encourage them in this new leadership role.
What a delight it was when one of us suggested, "What if we devote ourselves to praying for our daughters and the team?" One of us is a Lutheran minister and pastor of his church; one, a Christian Scientist and a Sunday School teacher at his church. We both loved the idea of praying together.
We set these guidelines:
