Peacekeeping—choice by choice
Peacekeeping, you could say, is a matter of choicemaking. You and I make peacemaking/peacekeeping choices every day —even in things. Like smiling, not grumping, at the person across from you at breakfast. Or helping the kids learn to share, and not fight over, the new toy airplane. Or reaching for solutions, rather than giving up, at a meeting that's headed for dead lock.
When people reach with all their hearts for peaceful solution's they find them. That's because, as Jesus put it, peacemakers are very special to God. In fact, they're His "children" (see Matt. 5:9). God holds them up. He holds them together. He blesses them.
In this week's Sentinel, you'll meet three courageous peacemakers/peacekeepers— a rabbi in Arizona, a Christian in Germany, and an Army colonel in Uruguay. God has helped each of them — and helped them help others — find peace. And keep peace.
