YOUR LETTERS

I usually strongly disagree with American trade and foreign policies, but I was delighted to read the interviews with three American veterans published in the Sentinel of November 12. These men typify the finest kind of "Christian soldiers," who were found in both Allied and enemy armed forces.

Jim Crafton's remark "I want to change that song 'God Bless America' to 'God Bless Us All' " was a most refreshing departure from the too-frequent expressions of a type of American patriotism that many non-Americans find wearisome, self-satisfied, and self-righteous. Mr. Crafton's remark expresses a very welcome type of caring diplomacy that, for once, eschews any hint of American superiority over other peoples.

All three veterans demonstrate a great humility and love for their fellow man. This was a most appropriate and useful article.
