YOUR LETTERS

I am a lifelong Lutheran who has recently become more familiar with Christian Science, and who has been a Sentinel subscriber during the past year. I look forward to receiving each issue, which I literally read from cover to cover. I have found all of the magazine's contents both inspiring and helpful, but found recent articles on prayer (August 20); "What does God want from you?" (August 27); and "The victory that never fades" (September 17) particularly helpful. I also recently contacted a Christian Science practitioner for help with a long-standing back problem, and found both comfort and relief as we explored "practical Christianity" together. Thank you for "Watching the world from a spiritual perspective," and keep up the great work!

I have always thought I could do a better job of praying for the world. The September 10 issue of the Sentinel gave all kinds of help on this. The article "Change your perspective and the world's not so scary" had a passage that made me laugh and gave me great fodder for prayer: "If I believe God's laws govern everything, then I can't accept incorrect accounts about false laws of nature, chance, and the human condition. If God's mind is in control, and it is the only mind, then I can't be duped into seeing the world careening forward at the whim of billions of competing and conflicting personal minds."
