FIRST LADY of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sara Alpysovna Nazarbaeva, is president of Bobek International Children's Charity Fund, and author of a "self-knowledge" program introduced in schools in Astana, the capital city. Recently she spoke with journalists at a press conference, emphasizing the benefits that increased self-knowledge, as well as a moral and spiritual education, will give to the rising generation.

Mrs. Nazarbaeva said the subject of self-knowledge raises such questions as the following: What is good and what is bad? Who am I? Where do I come from? Why am I here? The first lady said further, ". . . all our problems come from lack of knowledge."

Nazarbaeva credits Indian philosopher Satya Sai Baba with many of her ideas and believes these words of his are key to solving many of the world's problems: "There is only one race, the race of humanity; there is only one language, the language of the heart; there is only one religion, the religion of love; and there is only one God, and He is ever present."
