A life renewed—both literally and figuratively
A little over thirty years ago, a dear friend invited me to Christian Science lecture. I accepted the invitation, never anticipating the remarkable change the event would bring to my life. That evening, as I listened to the lecturer, I was convinced that here at last was the true, spiritual instruction and direction that I had been seeking for years.
My joy in discovering Christian Science cannot be overstated. Shortly after attending the lecture, I asked for treatment from a Christian Science practitioner to help me overcome a multiplicity of financial and personal problems. My first meeting with him was a revelation, as he helped me to understand better how to study the Bible and Science and Health, and gave me many new ideas to think about. On my way home, I stopped at a Christian Science Reading Room for copies of Science and Health and Mrs. Eddy's other books.
For several weeks, I read and studied, and I prayed to see myself and others as God's ideas, made in His image and likeness. I was deeply grateful to be able to report to the practitioner that by focusing on the presence and power of divine Love, God, I had found heavenly freedom. In the years since then, the study of Christian Science has enabled me to meet the challenge of colds, influenza, and career and financial difficulties. God's protection and guidance are unfailing.
