"I suppose through our research methods we can eventually ... explain the health effects of human emotions and ... relationships on the basis of the behavior of molecules," comments Dr. Jeff Levin, epidemiologist and author. "But I believe there is something that underlies all of these findings and that it cannot be captured in a specimen dish: the idea of some type of loving spirit or consciousness that created and permeates everything. This could ultimately explain why people who love God or feel loved by God would also be less depressed and healthier."
Dr. Levin, whose next book, God, Faith, and Health (John Wiley & Sons), will be released next year, is a senior research fellow at the National Institute for Healthcare Research.
